Hot off the griddle in Huntington

Turkey cheddar burger on whole wheat bun at Top Bunz Credit: Joan Reminick
Just got my buns over to a new Huntington burger place, Top Bunz. Seemed as though half of the town was there.
You get a choice of four different kinds of bun (or bunz): white with or without seeds, potato or whole wheat. Another option is getting your burger “topless” on lettuce. I was most pleased with a juicy, savory turkey burger on a whole wheat bun, which I ordered with Cheddar, pickles, tomato and grilled onions from the roster of free toppings.
I preferred that burger to the quarter- pound beef burger which, according to owner Kristine Fiorentino, must be served at an internal temperature of 158 degrees. To me, that means overcooked; even a topping of freshly roasted jalapeños didn't help. Sweet potato and regular fries were the previously frozen variety.
Among other options: a cheese steak, a pulled pork sandwich and a chicken sandwich (grilled or fried). A veggie burger, too.
The joint replaces American Roadside Burger, which is still going strong in Smithtown.
Top Bunz is at 337 New York Ave., Huntington, 631-923-1100
