Huntington: Umberto's is now Gennaro's

A new banner lets the traffic on 25A know that the former Umberto’s in Huntington is now called Gennaro’s. Same management and crew as before, I was told, but the affiliation with the New Hyde Park Umberto’s is a thing of the past.
All I cared about, at a recent lunch, was how the eating was. The report is a good one. Even the garlic knots turned out to be better than most – nice and crusty but neither oily nor pungent. I was pleased, too, with rigatoni with broccoli rabe, sausage, mozzarella and bread crumbs, all of which came together harmoniously. A surprise winner was the Gennaro’s chicken sandwich: juicy, smoky boneless breasts, ham, bright vegetables and melted mozzarella on focaccia.
The price for each lunch item was $9.99.
Gennaro’s is at 138 E. Main St., Huntington, 631-935-1391.
