Luddites take note:You will need to pick out your dinner by touching a picture with your pointer finger at Porto Vivo in Huntington, where all ordering is done on individual iPads presented to diners in lieu of paper menus.
“It lets the customers see beautiful pictures of the food, especially the desserts,’’ said general manager Ben Laiacona. And it allows wine selections to be updated often, he added. The multilevel Italian restaurant is owned by Home Shopping Network entrepreneur Joy Mangano. Right now, the place is elegantly dressed up for the holidays.
You won't need an iPad, but you will need a reservation for executive chef Joseph Balbo's New Year's Eve bash. On the planning boards: an all-inclusive five-hour party with hot and cold food stations on every level, an open bar, a DJ and a band. Per person cost is $135, including taxes and tips.
