Kiran Palace, a modest Indian restaurant in the King Kullen mini-mall in Commack, has closed.

A typical weekday lunch at the Commack location once included house specialties: chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken and dal (lentils), as well as a smattering of vegetarian options, served in copper pots.

On the a la carte menu, diners found authentic renditions of lamb rogan josh (lamb stew over rice), ginger chicken, and for dessert, gulab jamun (sweet honey rounds).

Kiran Palace opened in 2009, a Suffolk County offshoot of the Hicksville original that opened in 2001 and is still going strong. (A Selden Kiran Palace was open briefly from 2008 to 2009).

The news comes on the heels of another Indian restaurant closure in New Hyde Park this week, which saw the decade old Madras Woodlands shutter.
