The old Madras Woodlands space in New Hyde Park will soon give way to a new Indian restaurant that’ll double as a banquet hall and sports bar, complete with TVs playing your favorite cricket match.

A Manhattan mainstay near the United Nations building in Midtown, Madras moved to Long Island about a decade ago, bringing along a mostly South Indian menu that catered to a niche audience with kosher-vegetarian fare.

The restaurant quietly closed in May. A former manager said the owner lived in New Jersey and could no longer maintain the hours needed to manage the restaurant. He sold the restaurant around the start of the year.

A sign on the door advertises for a new restaurant called Minny’s. Husband and wife team KJ and Minny Singh plan to open a restaurant in the coming months with a more classic menu of Punjabi-centric fare with halal meat.
