Island Fish
"Not your average fish store" is the way owner Stewart Brill describes the place he describes as "gourmet in the middle of Farmingville." Part fish store, part fish restaurant, this unusual spot has four tables (order at the counter first) as well as Japanese garden outside, for dining in warmer weather.
Chef Frank Lopez, whose roots go back to Italy and Puerto Rico, gets creative with fish and seafood. You might begin a meal with butternut squash and fresh crabmeat soup. In addition to crabcakes and shrimp cakes, Lopez also makes bacon- scallop-tomato cakes. His rice balls have shrimp and fresh mozzarella inside. In terms of fish burgers, how does salmon with mango sound? Or tilapia and shrimp?
Not an ordinary fish store, for sure.
