Italian food classics come to Long Beach
Villagio, the Long Beach offshoot of a decade-old Whitestone restaurant, is now serving a menu of Italian classics from family recipes.
The restaurant got off to a bumpy start. As owner Dominick Loccisano tells it, he bought the place 10 days before superstorm Sandy hit. “We were flooded and then had to renovate.” The restaurant opened in December.
Along with a roster of brick oven pizzas led by the simple Margherita ($9.95), Villagio offers such classics as “Mom’s famous” meatball, an 8-ounce giant served with marinara sauce and shaved ricotta salata ($11.95), baked clams ($10.50), linguine with white clam sauce ($11.50), gnocchi pomodoro ($12.50), chicken Francese ($16.95) and eggplant Parmigiana ($15.75).
Villagio is at 157 E. Park Ave., Long Beach, 516-897-1886, villaggiohome.com.
