J&R's Steak House, Stony Brook: Closed in Sandy's wake

In Stony Brook, J&R’s Steak House has closed following severe damage from superstorm Sandy. There are no plans for reopening it, manager Andy Stamos Jr. said.
The 20-year-old Stony Brook spot was the original link in what has become a growing Long Island chain of moderately priced steak houses. “We had a lot of good memories and met a lot of good people there,” Stamos said, adding that he’s already run into a few Stony Brook customers at the steak house's other branches.
