Jellyfish in Centerport promises to be quite a showplace — a seafood restaurant with a soda fountain as well as a sushi bar. And a celebrity chef — Heather West, a past winner of Hell's Kitchen. Add to that veranda dining with a view of Centerport Harbor. And did we mention the live jellyfish tank?

Trouble is, the place just doesn't open.  A telephone call to what's starting to look like Long Island’s longest work in progress yielded the information that the restaurant  probably won’t make its debut until at least three weeks after the New Year. Meanwhile, work slowly continues on its outdoor decks.

I remember being told, a full year back, that the place would launch in late January  of 2011. Now, it’s starting to look like February of 2012. Or later.
