The celiac community suffered a blow last July when a fire destroyed the Bellmore facility of Joan’s GF Great Bakes, a leading source of gluten-free breads, muffins, pizzas, bagels and more.
Rejoice then: Joan’s has relocated to Freeport and on Sunday Joan Popkin and her son Ken are opening their doors to show off the new space. “We’ve got about three times the room here,” Popkin said. “We started working here in December and already we’ve almost doubled production.”
This Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Popkins will be welcoming customers, answering questions and giving tours. You’ll also get a discount on anything you buy.
As with the Bellmore location, Freeport is mainly a production facility. But walk-in customers are always welcome.
