Joe’s Garage and Grill in Riverhead, which received a three-star rating last year and was named one of Newsday's Top 100 restaurants for 2014, is currently running without executive chef Brian Burner, who has left.

Burner, when reached by phone, said he’s taking a sabbatical to spend time with his family and decide what his next step will be.

Meanwhile, said co-owner Ray Dickhoff, the race car-themed eatery hasn’t yet filled the head chef position.

Dickhoff added that the people in the kitchen were trained by Burner.

Joe’s Garage and Grill is at 40 Peconic Ave., Riverhead, 631-591-3330, joesgarageandgrill.com
