John Duck Jr.'s
(THIS RESTAURANT HAS CLOSED.)
John Duck Jr.'s occupies the first floor of an old, three-story inn. It's been in operation more than 60 years and is on the fourth generation of the family that owns it. With five different dining areas, it can seat more than 200 in a casual setting with pictures of ducks and old maps of Long Island.
Duck is the specialty here. A roasted half duck, with apple-raisin stuffing, is served with orange and other sauces for $24. Dinners come with soup, potato, vegetable, and cole slaw. Sauerbraten, lamb chops, and steak are also popular.
A 20-ounce sirloin is $25, or steak sandwiches on toast points are $20. The restaurant has a full bar with a pub menu that includes the appetizers on the main menu and such fare as burgers.
