Some major changes have gone down at Kodiak’s American Grill & Bar in Farmingdale. Trevor McGrath, the former ”Hell’s Kitchen” contestant who did a brief stint at Americana Kitchen in Syosset, is now executive chef. The menu was recently revised by Vincent Michaels, who, in addition to owning J. Michaels Tuscan Steakhouse in Northport, also has a restaurant consulting business, VPM Hospitality.

Michaels said that the restaurant has upgraded its suppliers — they are using certified Angus beef and Bell & Evans chicken — and that all salad dressings are house made. New on the menu is a 12-ounce “colossal” steakhouse burger ($15) made with chopped prime beef from Main Street Meats in Farmingdale and an 8-ounce filet mignon with Gorgonzola crust ($26), as well as garlic crusted salmon ($19). What hasn't changed, thankfully, is the “ballpark” sandwich featuring pastrami, Alpine lace Swiss and spicy brown mustard on a Bavarian pretzel roll. A house-made chocolate ice box cake is also on the roster.

Kodiak’s American Grill & Bar is at 1815 Broadhollow Rd., Farmingdale, 631-414-7055
