Kumo Sushi Hibachi & Lounge, an offshoot of Kumo Sushi in Plainview, enters the busy Bay Shore Japanese restaurant scene, with both Aji 53 and Mitsui Japanese Restaurant just steps away. What differentiates this place from the Plainview original is the presence of six hibachi tables. And there’s also separate seating for 100, said manager Louis Lin.

Hibachi entrees, which come with clear soup, a salad, a shrimp appetizer, vegetables and either fried or plain rice, include such protein choices as chicken ($16), shrimp ($18) and scallops ($20).

The rest of the menu hews pretty close to the one in Plainview. Which means you can get the restaurant’s popular eggplant sandwich (deep fried eggplant, lobster salad, spicy tuna, salmon and creamy wasabi sauce; $11) as well as a black pepper tuna roll ($6), chirashi ($18), tofu teriyaki ($12) and a chicken katsu bento box ($19).

Kumo Sushi Hibachi & Lounge is at 33 E. Main St., Bay Shore, 631-968-1688, kumosushi.net.
