It was a busy winter for Joe Celano, owner of La Casa Cafe at Crab Meadow Beach in Northport. Celano, along with two members of La Casa's crew, remodeled the interior of the restaurant without professional help. Now, said Celano, there’s a bigger waiting space as well as an expanded bar area with new hardwood floors. A 70-inch flat screen TV at the entryway plays a perpetual aquarium scene — unless there's a big game on. The refurbished dining room features new carpeting, banquettes and upholstered wood-backed chairs; the original greenhouse windows remain.

And the salad bar — updated and edited a bit — is back. Unlimited trips are figured into the cost of all entrees ordered in the dining room. On that menu: chicken bruschetta — a breaded cutlet topped with a mozzarella, red onion, tomato and mesclun salad ($20.95); penne Diana, made with sauteed chicken, caramelized onions, bacon, broccoli and basil in an Alfredo cream sauce ($19.95); and chicken Parmigiana ($18.95).

Outdoors there's table service, no access to the salad bar and lower prices: that same chicken parm goes for $14.95. The outdoor menu, shorter than the one inside, includes burgers, sliders, panini and pizza.

As in years past, beachgoers can get pizza by the slice or the pie from an outdoor window and eat it at an uncovered table.

La Casa Cafe is at 445 Waterside Ave., Northport, 631-757-7720.
