It’s always handy to know a few good places to eat on the way to and from local airports. Last week, Thai Angel in Islandia proved the convenient choice for a family dinner when my son and his fiancee (both vegetarians) landed at Long Island MacArthur in Islip.
Both ginger tofu ($11.95) and pad see-eaw ($11.95 for flat noodles with Chinese broccoli, eggs and tofu instead of beef) elicited much praise. Everyone at the table shared a couple of orders of steamed vegetable dumplings ($5.95). A pity the appetizer turned out to be wet and glutinous, the low point of an otherwise fine meal.
Although chicken with cashews ($13.95) was very good, a standout (for meat and poultry eaters) was a vibrant curry of duck and pineapple ($17.95) served in the dish pictured above. Just ducky.
