Lee Mazzilli pinch hits with Yankee wines at Stew Leonard's in Carle Place

Former major league baseball player Lee Mazzilli will be signing bottles of New York Yankees Wine on Nov. 15 at Stew Leonard's Wines, which will host a tasting at its Carle Place shop.
Three wines with the Yankees' interlocking NY logo label will be available: 2012 New York Yankees Reserve Russian RIver Valley Chardonnay, 2011 New York Yankees Reserve Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2013 New York Yankees Reserve Dry Rieslng. The first two are made in California; the riesling, in the Finger Lakes region.
They sell for $20 to $25. Plata Wine Partners, which operates 50 vineyards on 12,000 acres, is the source of the California wines. Wine by Design, which has fashioned wines for other professional teams, including the New York Jets, markets the NYY label.
Mazzilli played and coached for the Yankees, as well as playing for the Mets, Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays. He also managed the Baltimore Orioles in 2004-05.
The signing and tasting will run from noon to 1 p.m.
