A food and wine tasting fundraiser, slated for next Wednesday, March 14, at 7 p.m., will be held at  Appliance World in Huntington.

The benefit is to help the Huntington YMCA raise money for a new playground. Lending a hand will be five chefs from some prestigious Long Island restaurants, who will prepare their specialties at five kitchen work stations in the store. Perhaps the most notable name on that roster is Gerry Hayden, a semifinalist for a James Beard Foundation award and chef/owner of North Fork Table in Southold. Other participating chefs are Roy Wohlars of South Edison in Montauk, Jackie Sharlup of Tula Kitchen in Bay Shore, Luke DeSanctis of Old Fields in Greenlawn and Morris Valle of Angelina’s II in Syosset.

Additionally, several other restaurants will be offering tastes of their fare, among them: Four Food Studio in Melville, FatFish in Bay Shore and Huntington Social in Huntington. Kashi of Huntington will have a sushi station.

Tickets are $50 a person and can be purchased at the Huntington YMCA, 60 Main St., Huntington, or by calling 631-421-4242*141.

Appliance World is at 414 New York Ave., Huntington, 631-385-1044.
