Pasta and pizza are definitely a winning ticket, one available in almost every community in Nassau and Suffolk. Here are three candidates where you can sample either or both and leave satisfied.
Favorites here include spaghetti with octopus, tomato and olive oil; black linguine with shellfish, calamari and tomato sauce; four-cheese pizza capped with mozzarella, Gorgonzola, fontina and pecorino; and the robiolina pie, a focaccia-style winner.
Try cavatelli with roasted eggplant, pecorino cheese, sausage, spinach and tomato sauce; or whole-wheat penne with lump crabmeat, shrimp, asparagus and roasted red pepper sauce. Mediterranean pizza: eggplant, shrimp, onions, olives, goat cheese, tomato sauce, mozzarella.
Plenty to enjoy, starting with pasta con le sarde, or bucatini with sardines, fennel, raisins and company; bucatini all'Amatriciana; garganelli carbonara with ground walnuts; and pizza Palermo, with red sauce, sauteed onions, pecorino cheese and bread crumbs.
