Monterey, the colorful New American eatery, earned a two-star rating in Newsday last year. For summer, the restaurant has added dishes and specials.
New from the kitchen are a grilled-salmon BLT, a BBQ burger, fish tacos with tilapia, Southwestern-style steak salad, rock-shrimp quesadillas, and jumbo shrimp wrapped in threads of phyllo. For dessert: bananas Foster empanadas and a ice-cream waffle sandwich.
Monterey also offers a surf-and-turf special on Wednesdays, starring a 6-ounce sirloin steak and a one-and-a-quarter-pound lobster for $24.95. On Tuesday, you may order a clambake for $24.95.
New chef Heather West's resume includes winning in the competition on Gordon Ramsay's "Hell's Kitchen" TV show.
Monterey is at 20 W. Park Ave., Long Beach; 516-208-8992.
