Dirty sodas are rolling on Long Island courtesy of a new food truck, Island Fizz, serving twists on the flavored sodas that have been all over Instagram and TikTok.

"I almost compare them to mocktails, just with a soda base," said owner Kate Pich, who hit the road with her cream-colored truck in July.

Drinks on the menu are named after Long Island locales. The Bay Shore Breeze (from $5.50) comes with Sprite, mango puree, cherry syrup and fresh orange juice; the Farmingdale Fizz (from $5.50)  is Mountain Dew with green apple and pineapple syrups; the Hampton Hula (from $5.50) is Sprite, watermelon and pineapple syrups and half and half.

Pich also comes up with drinks that nod to the holidays and seasons. The Carle Place Cupid (from $6.50) made with Mountain Dew, dragon fruit syrup, strawberry puree and edible glitter, and the Huntington Heartthrob ($6.50) made with Coke, red velvet, chocolate and vanilla cold foam were on the menu for Valentine's. Coming up in March: a menu based on your favorite Girl Scout cookie flavors. The Samoa is made with cream soda, caramel, toasted coconut syrup and a chocolate caramel creamer.

Pich also has energy drinks ($7.25) such as the Bellmore Buzz made with Red Bull, blue raspberry, kiwi and coconut and the Sag Harbor Surge ($7.25) made with sugar-free Red Bull, sugar-free coconut, sugar-free pineapple and half and half..

A create-your-own dirty soda option includes two syrups and one cream. Flavors include watermelon, cherry and guava syrups. Add-ins (65 cents more) include Nerds candy and Marshmallow Fluff.

"A lot of it was the nostalgia of Friendly’s drink when I was younger," Pich said. "My grandparents always took us there, and I remember they had this blue raspberry drink, this cotton candy drink, so I wanted to do drinks just like that."

Pich, 27, has worked in the food industry professionally for about 12 years. She got her bachelor’s degree in food service management and baking and pastry from Johnson & Wales University. She got a peddlers permit and hit the road with Island Fizz last summer.

"It was so busy from day one. I was shocked," Pich said, thanking social media for the buzz.

Dirty sodas started in Utah in the late 2000s and went mainstream in the late 2010s and early 2020s thanks to TikTok and Instagram. Dirty soda chains such as Swig and Fiiz (neither have Long Island locations) have been expanding nationwide due to the rising popularity and demand for the dessert-adjacent drink.

Island Fizz parks on Motor Avenue or Merritts Road in Farmingdale and on Hicksville Road in Massapequa. Pich posts the schedule for the week on Mondays with  locations and hours, usually noon to 4 p.m.
