Long Island Restaurant Week started on Sunday night and now, in response to Sandy, the organizers are encouraging participating restaurants to extend the promotion for another week, to Nov. 18. The reason: to allow more Long Islanders "to enjoy a hot meal at a great price."

More than 200 restaurants signed up to offer the three-course, $24.95 Restaurant Week dinner (click here for a list) and, so far, about 90 have committed to the extension (click here for that list).

The $24.95 deal is in place all night, every night, except for Saturday Nov. 10 and, for some restaurants, Saturday Nov. 17, when the deal ends at 7 p.m.
