Long Island restaurants: New reviews

In this week’s Newsday, Joan Reminick reviews Señor Nacho, the Mexican restaurant in Great Neck that takes over what used to be Miraku (and, before that, Banyan, Great Neck Steak House, Dino’s and Pulcinella). Empanadas, guacamole, street tacos, pork chops and flan are among the best items at this “cavernous space dominated by big, splashy folkloric murals.”

Peter Gianotti visits Graceful Rose in Port Jefferson, whose owners Richard and Mary Morrison opened the restaurant in 2012 after winning $165 million in the Mega Millions lottery. Chef Massimo Fedozzi  (formerly of Vero in Amityville and Palio in Jericho) took over the kitchen a few months ago. “It is a restaurant you want to like,” Gianotti writes. “But, despite all this heart and talent, the results often remain mixed, beginning with service.” Recommended dishes include tuna tartare, lobster bisque and the 60-ounce porterhouse.”
