Long Island restaurants: new reviews
In this week’s Newsday, Peter M. Gianotti awards three stars to Caci North Fork, the rustic Italian that “quietly slipped into Southold in late summer. It’s making a lot of noise now.” Chef Marco Pellegrini, a recent transplant from Italy, serves “superb” pastas such as gnocchi (with Gorgonzola or all’Amatriciana), pappardelle Bolognese, tagliolini with white truffles. Steaks, roasts, desserts, wine list — all first class.
Joan Reminick reviews Spaghettini, in Mineola, “a sleek new pizzeria-trattoria, which shares family ownership with the diet-friendly Skinny Pizza mini-chain.” But you can relax: “Nobody’s counting calories here.” Reminick commends the jumbo rice ball with molten mozzarella center and the fettuccine primavera, “starring bright vegetables in a garlic and oil sauce that coats every strand.”
