Peter's Clam Bar in Island Park was built in the year of "The Wizard of Oz" and opened in the year of "Fantasia."

You go through a lot of littlenecks and cherrystones in 75 years.

For its birthday, the Barnum Inlet restaurant is rolling back prices at lunch on Thursdays through the summer. That means $1 for a dozen clams on the half-shell and 75 cents for clam chowder. The discounts will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be a ceremony to celebrate the clam bar on Thursday. May 14, at 11 a.m. Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Island Park Mayor Michael McGinty are expected to attend. Musicians in period garb will perform swing from the 1940s, along with local residents.
