Lucy's, back in 2004

This seems to be a week filled with dead-end phone calls.  I was particularly chagrined to get a disconnect message when calling Lucy’s Bistro in Babylon. The charming little place — which has been through several ownerships but continuously served a great burger  — had its main entrance in a rear parking lot. Most weekends, though, it was hopping.

To verify that Lucy’s was, indeed, closed, I telephoned Bistro 111, which, until last summer, was an Italian place called Pronto. And I got the identical message.

A call to the Argyle Grill — answered by a live person — confirmed that indeed, both restaurants are now gone from the downtown Babylon scene.

Could it be that the overused term ”bistro” is bad luck in Babylon?
