Ludlow Bistro in Deer Park turns 6

Ludlow Bistro's lamb shank and goat cheese puff pastry appetizer
This week, Ludlow Bistro in Deer Park marked its sixth anniversary. Much has changed since the place opened in 2006. Brian Connelly is now the restaurant's sole owner; for the past 2 ½ years, James Canavan has been executive chef.
Canavan, who is also a pastry chef, now makes the restaurant's bread and desserts. His most current menu, big on comfort dishes, features an appetizer of braised lamb shank with goat cheese in puff pastry ($12), an entree-sized Mediterranean shrimp salad ($15) and a main dish of fish and chips with shoestring potatoes and Dijon rémoulade. ($21). For dessert, there's a peanut butter mousse with chocolate ganache filling ($9).
Ludlow Bistro is at 1945 Deer Park Ave., Deer Park, 631-667-9595
