After taking up residency on Lido Boulevard for nearly 70 years, Marvel Frozen Dairy has opened a second location, a boardwalk outpost just over two miles away on National Boulevard in Long Beach.

“My family and I always considered expanding in New York. When we discovered there was an opening on the Long Beach boardwalk, the opportunity presented itself. It felt like the perfect time and location to expand,” its president, John Fragioudakis, said.

Marvel 2.0 occupies the space next to the Allegria hotel that previously was Gentle Brew Coffee Roasters. Like the original, customers order at one of several windows.

For the most part, the menu mirrors Lido’s. Aside from its signature brown bonnets and soft-serve ice cream, it offers frozen yogurt, plus sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, slushies, milkshakes, soda floats and egg creams. The most expensive single-serve item on the menu costs $6.50.

Grab a frozen treat and hang out at one of its two high-tops (no seating) or sit at a bench that overlooks the ocean.

Marvel was established in 1951 by the Papageorge family. After 35 years, it was sold to the Katsafouros family, who then sold it in 2013 to its current owners, the Fragioudakis family.

Marvel is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. It's not yet been decided if this location will be seasonal or year-round. However, the Lido Beach location plans to stay open all year.
