All-you-can-eat dining is the big draw at the aptly named All U Can Eat in Lake Ronkonkoma, which takes over the former digs of Mermaid Asian Bistro & Bar. The newly renovated dining spot is an offshoot of Masago Neo Japanese Cuisine in Great Neck and offers the same menu as well as table service.

As manager Johnny Leung explains it, $17.99 (cash or credit card) gets you the option to order one dish after another from a menu that includes many signature maki rolls, along with kitchen dishes like teriyaki, tempura, chef’s specials, noodles, fried rice and more. For sushi and sashimi, it will cost an additional $4.99 a person, but you can order anything and as much as you want. There is one caveat, though: Don't order too much at once, since there’s a charge for wasting food. And you can’t leave with a doggy bag.

If you want to eat from the a la carte menu, there are steep discounts — 50 percent for sushi bar items, 30 percent for kitchen dishes — for those who pay in cash. A $6.99 lunch special ($1 extra for shrimp or scallops) is also cash-only. Good reason to hit the ATM before sitting down at the table.

All U Can Eat is at 846 Portion Rd., Lake Ronkonkoma, 631-588-8885, allyoucaneat846.com
