The owners of Great Neck’s new Japanese restaurant, Miraku, also own a fish wholesaler that specializes in high-end Asian varieties. That means that Miraku’s sushi bar has access to some fish rarely seen on Long Island. This morning, I heard from managing partner Jing Chen that “We just got in some rare fish from Japan today!”

So . . . get’em while they’re cold: threadfin bream (itoyori), red grouper (akahata), blue grouper (aohata), bull's-eye (pictured above, kintokidai), Chinese kingfish (fuefukidai). See the full line up here.

Miraku is at 31 S. Middle Neck Rd., Great Neck, 516-466-6369.
