Mo’Nelisa Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria opens in Point Lookout

If you’re looking for homemade pepperoni rolls sprinkled with sesame seeds or unorthodox flavors and styles of pizza, Mo’Nelisa Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria has opened in Point Lookout, with indoor seating for over 30 and a small sheltered patio out front.
The restaurant is named for owner Mo Cassara — who also owns The Point Ale House in Point Lookout — and his wife, Elisa DiStefano, feature reporter for News 12.
Jon Karp is the chef, who brings experience from Carmine’s in Manhattan and Vincent’s Clam Bar in Carle Place.
He says the specialty is a grandma-style alla vodka pizza with fresh mozzarella that’s $3.99 a slice. Cheese slices start at $2.79, $2.99 for Sicilian.
Among twelve variations of pizza, you’ll find barbecue chicken or buffalo chicken, Caprese, alfredo, salad and white pizzas that start at $15.95 for a pie.
Mo’Nelisa pizzeria appetizers range from calamari ($13.95) to mozzarella bites ($8.95) and baked clams ($15.95). Kale salad has made the menu as well as a Siciliana salad with chopped greens, peppers, artichokes, capers, olives and fresh mozzarella (both $12.95).
Expect broccoli rabe with chicken or sausage ($18.95) or gnocchi with a choice of sauces ($17.95). A selection of parms ranges from eggplant, to chicken, veal or shrimp ($17.95 to $22.95). Karp says he makes everything from bread to dessert in house.
Mo’Nelisa is open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays to Thursdays and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
