Navy Beach, a waterfront restaurant in Montauk, is slated to open next month. Paul LaBue, a veteran of The Beacon in Sag Harbor, and Nick & Toni's and The Laundry in East Hampton, will be the chef.
Navy Beach takes over the site on Navy Road, where a namesake restaurant as well as Big Kahuna have operated in recent years. The new eatery plans to emphasize a family-friendly style, soft hues and its prime location along the 200-foot private beach.
LaBue's menu will include dishes such as lobster pot pie, spaghetti with a shellfish spin on Bolognese sauce, whole grilled fish, Mediterranean-style fish stew, local seafood and corn chowder, local seafood ceviche and a variation on fish-and-chips. plus burgers and salads. The bar menu will run toward small plates: meatball sliders, lobster sliders, "kung pao" chicken wings and Neapolitan-style pizzas.
Navy Beach is the work of Frank Davis and Franklin Ferguson. General manager Ferguson's resume includes stints at Sushi Samba and Asia de Cuba; Davis is a veteran of the hospitality business.
