The flavors of Pakistan and India are front and center at the tiny new Shan-e-Mughlia Restaurant, which made its debut recently in an East Meadow strip mall.

Chef-owner Musaf Khan Durrani, who was born in India and raised in Pakistan, said his restaurant seats 18 people, with table service as well as takeout from the counter. On the small, gently priced menu: chicken tikka ($5.99); goat curry ($6.99); beef Behari kebab ($7.50); Punjabi chana masala, a vegetarian chickpea dish ($5.99), and garlic naan ($1.50).

Khandurrani spoke with enthusiasm of a special he hopes to offer within the next few days, Mughlai kofte, essentially a spiced meatball with a hard-boiled egg tucked inside ($10).

Shan-e-Mughlia Restaurant is at 2079 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow, 516-280-9696.
