Americana Prime Steakhouse debuts in Port Jefferson Station

New and geared toward carnivores: Americana Prime Steakhouse, situated within the Meadow Club in Port Jefferson Station.
The restaurant is the latest Long Island venture of peripatetic chef-restaurateur Chani Singh, a name you may remember. Singh was the force behind the Curry Club in East Setauket, as well as its short-lived spinoff in Hicksville. He’s also opened such restaurants as Village Bistro in East Setauket, Chani’s Unique Indian Restaurant in Islip and Sen Spice in Sag Harbor, all now gone. And, for a brief while back in 2011, Singh operated the Tandoori Truck, which was parked outside Costco in Melville.
Singh defined this new place as a straight-ahead steakhouse, but the menu is broader than that. Among appetizers: tuna tartare ($14), smoked salmon rolled with cucumber ($18) and a raw bar tower ($32). You can get such main courses as roasted Cornish hen ($17), baby back pork ribs ($20) and duck breast ($22), as well as a veal chop ($39), 16-ounce beef rib-eye steak, 32-ounce porterhouse for two ($35 a person), 10-ounce filet mignon ($44) and 22-ounce T-bone ($55).
The place offers an $18.95 three-course lunch with starters such as French onion soup or hummus with pita chips and, among main course choices, a petit filet mignon and stuffed chicken breast. Finales include crème brûlée and molten lava cake.
