Joining Long Island's lengthening list of hip burger spots is New York Burger Bar, now up and running in the Massapequa space that last housed American Social Kitchen & Cocktails.

The full-serve place, which also offers takeout, has the requisite craft beers on tap as well as sustainably engineered decor featuring reclaimed barnwood, brick walls, antique lighting fixtures, tin ceilings and hardwood floors.

Chef Louis Mitrovich, who cooked at Serata Long Beach and Chi in Westbury, offers a roster of burgers ($10.95 to $15.95) that include such varieties as the Biltmore Shores breakfast burger topped with a fried egg and bacon jam, the Juicy Lucy, stuffed with American cheese, and the Harbor Green turkey burger made with spiced ground turkey and crowned with grilled red onion, avocado and spinach. The place serves hand-cut fries and offers several varieties of poutine, a French Canadian debauch featuring cheese curd and brown-gravy-topped fries. Also on the menu: a giant Bavarian pretzel, sesame wings, a strawberry spinach salad and a grilled chicken avocado BLT. For dessert, there are milk shakes and floats, as well as brownies and chocolate chip cookies.

New York Burger Bar is at 4225 Merrick Rd., Massapequa, 516-799-9199
