Northport newcomer: Pizzeria plus
Savory spicy Cajun jambalaya pasta (al dente linguine with plenty of sauteed shrimp, chicken, onions, peppers and tomatoes) isn’t the kind of dish you’d expect from a pizzeria. I took a chance ordering it and came up a winner at the month-old La Casa Pizza in Northport.
The 16-seat spot is an offshoot of the well-established La Casa Cafe at Northport's Crab Meadow Beach. Because of zoning regulations, the snazzy little eatery has an order-at-the-counter policy, but servers do bring your food to the table when it's ready. On the menu: burgers, panini, main dish salads, entrees and pastas.
Pizza, of course, too. I thought my "focaccia" pie had lots of crunch and liked its sprightly topping of tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella.
La Casa Pizza is at 1014 Fort Salonga Rd., Northport, 631-651-8184, lacasapizza2go.com
