Nostro Posto wants to become il tuo posto — your neighborhood place —  in Plainview.

The restaurant and pizzeria specializes in Italian-American favorites, hearty and rustic Italian fare, as well as pizzettes at the Old Country Road address.

Gaetano DeCrescenzo, an owner and executive chef of the new eatery, formerly was the chef at Positano in Williston Park.

The name of his latest venture is Italian for "our place." A quick look at the menu, from traditional Italian and Italian-American dishes to pizzas and pizzettes, is aimed at a broad audience.

Among the house main dishes are pork chops with vinegar peppers, sauteed onions, roasted potatoes, and mushrooms; veal chop Parmigiana; broiled veal chop; grilled sausages with broccoli rabe and cherry peppers; tripe with peas; and "Sunday Special" courses such as rabbit alla cacciatora; baccala al forno with olives, potatoes, and onions in light marinara sauce.

The Sunday fare also includes ragu for two, three, or four, with braciole, meatballs, and sausages paired with gnocchi, priced at $34, $51, and $65.  Most dinner main courses are $19.95 to $26.50. The broiled veal chop is the most expensive dish at $45. No lunch course is more than $14.50

Nostro Posto's pastas, from meat lasagna and baked ziti to fettuccine all'Alfredo and capellini alla carbonara, are $12.95 to $19.95.

Ten 12-inch pizzette, from Margherita and four-cheese to cauliflower and arugula-and-prosciutto, are in the $11.25 to $13.50 range. The take-out menu includes 16- and 18-inch pies, which also offers a create-your-own pizza with possible toppings numbering 19.

Nostro Posto is open every day, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
