Saturday marks the official opening of NY Crab Cake and Company in Floral Park, when the family-run business serving crab and shrimp sandwiches and platters will give away free samples and goody bags between noon and 4 p.m.
Housed in what used to be Deliboy Market, the fast-casual restaurant and catering kitchen allows chef Ian Staley to cook crispy, pan-seared or New York lump crab cake ($12 to $14) as well as crab-stuffed shrimp, shrimp po’boy and crab sandwiches served with fries and hushpuppies ($8 to $14).
Sides include shoestring or sweet potato fries, slaw, pasta salad and sauteed mushrooms ($4 to $9). Tea, coffee, lemonade, soda and juices are available to drink.
The restaurant offers a communal table and two smaller ones for eat-in seating, though it’s primarily outfitted for take out.
NY Crab Cake and Company is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
