Mattituck's off-the-beaten-path Italian, Touch of Venice, is now Cutchogue’s centrally located Touch of Venice. The 23-year-old restaurant has moved from its longtime waterside location to a new spot in downtown Cutchogue. Head chef and co-owner Brian Pennacchia explained that although Mattituck was picturesque, “it was so far off the beaten path that after Labor Day we would pull our hair out.” After five months of renovation inside what used to be Fisherman’s Rest, Touch of Venice opened earlier this month.

Pennacchia said that the menu hadn’t changed much, although a few of the prices are a bit lower. Antipasti and salads (e.g. seared tuna with fried arugula and roasted peppers, sauteed calamari with chili-tomato sauce) run between $9 and $14; pastas (spaghetti alla chitarra with local little necks and sopressata sounds good) hover in the low $20s; mains (many grilled fish as well as veal Parm) in the mid $20s.

For now TOV opens at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. This weekend guests will receive a complimentary glass of Prosecco with their meals.

Touch of Venice is at 28350 Main Rd., 631-298-5851.
