Making its debut in East Northport is Red Ginger Asian Diner, situated in a just-built strip mall on Larkfield Road.
“It’s fast casual,” said owner Samantha Ye, who said you order at the counter, receive a number, sit down and wait for a runner to bring your food to you.
The menu is mainly Chinese, with a few Thai and Japanese items. Most interesting is a section listing “street eats,” among them chicken buns ($7.95), pot stickers ($6.95), dan dan noodles ($7.95) and salt and pepper wings ($7.95). You can also get a spicy Vietnamese chicken salad ($8.95), hot and sour soup ($2.39 cup; $4.95 bowl), General Tso’s chicken ($8.25), black pepper shrimp ($9.94) and teriyaki flank steak ($9.95).
A "2 for 20” roster means that, for $20, two people pick two soups, as well as two full-sized entrees, like ginger broccoli chicken or pork chop rice, plus two sides, such as a pork egg roll or veggie spring roll. A kids' menu adds family appeal.
Red Ginger Asian Diner is at 353 Larkfield Rd., East Northport, 631-623-2125.
