Call it culinary justice: A new farm-to-table restaurant, Farmhouse, opened last night in the Greenport space where another such restaurant, The Fifth Season (which relocated to Port Jefferson) used to be.

The relationship between the two dining spots goes deeper than an address, since Fifth Season chef co-owner Erik Orlowski is a partner in the new Greenport venture, along with Keith Valenti and Scott Kirk.

Chef  Richard Lanza (formerly of City Crab in Manhattan and Trumpets on the Bay in Eastport) turns out a repertoire that changes seasonally. Everything is carefully sourced  —  local and organic when possible.

Dinner might start with a local heirloom beet salad with baby mâche, goat cheese fritter, crème fraîche and crispy wontons, followed by a braised Crescent Farm duck ragout with house-made cavatelli and shaved pecorino cheese and ending with a vanilla bean panna cotta.

The Farmhouse is at 45 Front St., Greenport, 631-477-6788.
