You'll find lunch, dinner and, believe it or not, breakfast at the new AlaTurca Mediterranean Restaurant on Rte. 109. The table-service restaurant serves a mostly Turkish repertoire in the former West Babylon digs of Classic American.

Owner Birnur Itil said that husband Akin Ay is executive chef - and comes from a family of chefs. Ay has also owned several full-service restaurants on the coast of the Black Sea in Turkey. Here in West Babylon, he bakes both the bread and the filled savory pastries known as pide. Gyro, a mixture of marinated spit-roasted lamb and beef, is also made in-house.

On the menu: A cold appetizers assortment that may include hummus, babaganoush, piyaz, or white bean salad and patlican salatasi, or eggplant salad ($11.99). Also manti, or Turkish ravioli ($8.99), mucver, or zucchini pancakes ($5.99), a doner (gyro) sandwich ($9.99), a Black Sea beef casserole ($16), cheese pide ($11) and grilled dorade, a Mediterranean fish ($17).

At breakfast, served daily from 7 to 11 a.m., consider a Turkish plate with honey, butter, olives, feta cheese, hard boiled egg, tomato and cucumber ($7.90). Or eggs scrambled with mozzarella, tomato and peppers ($7.50). Or borek, a house-made Turkish pastry filled with either spinach, feta or ground beef ($4.99).

AlaTurca Mediterranean Restaurant is at 691 Rte. 109, West Babylon, 631-450-4478
