Krysten Pough, all of 23 years old, is the driving force behind Krysten’s Good Eats & Treats in North Babylon. The recent graduate of both Farmingdale State College and the Culinary Academy of Long Island @ Star Career Academy in Syosset opened the luncheonette with an eye toward a relatively healthy menu; most everything (including the roasting of meats) is done in-house.

“I make a salmon burger [$5.25] with fresh salmon,” said Pough, who named as one of her more creative sandwiches roasted turkey with cranberry apple relish, roasted onions, honey mustard and Muenster cheese. Slow-roasted shredded pork shoulder is the filling for the pulled-pork sandwich, served with a sweet apple slaw ($5.50). Pough also bakes all the desserts (brownies, cookies) and makes fresh fruit smoothies and milk shakes.

Breakfast plates (pancakes, eggs and French toast, $2.50 to $7.25) are available until closing.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The place is closed on Sunday.

Krysten’s Good Eats & Treats is at 775 Deer Park Ave., North Babylon, 631-482-1840
