Papa’s Country Porch Bakery: Grand opening in Bohemia

If you’ve bought a fruit pie from the farm stand at Rottkamp’s in Calverton, W & K in Manorville or Serene Green in Sag Harbor, you’ve already tasted one of Paul Mendola’s confections. After three years of “farming out,” he and his family have established their own bakery, Papa’s Country Porch, in Bohemia. This weekend is the store’s grand opening.
On Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Mendolas will be giving out samples (not just pies, but also cakes, cheesecakes and cookies) and, if the weather cooperates, there will be live music as well.
