Flags flying jauntily over the parking lot announce the opening of Passione, the new Carle Place pizzeria-trattoria, situated across from the Old Country Road entrance to Roosevelt Field.

Sample items from the menu, which will look familiar to those who have eaten at Emillio's in Commack, Fanatico in Jericho and Pasta-eria in Hicksville -- all owned by restaurateur Emillio  Branchinelli -- include a “San Genero” individual pizza with sausage and peppers ($14), pappardelle Vesuvio (wide ribbon noodles with spicy marinara and cherry peppers ($13.95),  and grilled Scottish salmon ($19.95).

The restaurant only accepts reservations for parties of 7 or more. To read more about the place, as well as the owner's other dining spots, click here.

Passione is at 231 Old Country Rd., Carle Place, 516-741-4800
