Three years after Tampa-based chicken chain PDQ found its way more than a thousand miles north to Farmingdale, it’s opened a second location. The eatery takes up residence in a brand-new stand-alone building in the highly-trafficked Westbury Plaza.

PDQ's (People Dedicated to Quality) menu of deep-fried and grilled chicken features tenders and nuggets, both of which can be ordered spicy, and a handful of sandwiches, such as the classic crispy chicken ; Buffy bleu, with crispy tenders in Buffalo bleu sauce and lettuce; and honey butter, with crispy chicken breast, honey butter and pickles. Make any of these a meal — with waffle fries and a drink — for $9.39 to $12.99.

Salads and sides, like Parmesan broccoli and macaroni and cheese; plus classic and specialty hand-spun shakes (including Oreo and M & M) can be ordered, too.

The main dining area has about a dozen tables and an L-shaped counter where customers can take a seat. A small outdoor patio will be set up soon.

The restaurant features a double-lane drive-thru, and as with the O.G. local PDQ, this location will compete with Chick-fil-A, a short half-mile away.

PDQ was founded in 2011 by Bob Basham (co-founder of Outback Steakhouse and Carrabba’s Italian Grill) and Nick Reader (former CFO of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers). Today, it has more than 60 locations worldwide. Both Long Island locations are operated by Dean Poll and Thomas J. Fanning, who own franchising rights for all of the Northeast.

PDQ is open Mondays to Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 1236 Old Country Rd. in Westbury. More info: 516-430-3990; eatpdq.com
