Here comes a truly summertime pizza.

It's the Caprese pie at Mamma Lombardi's, the popular and very good Italian restaurant in Holbrook. Next to the formal restaurant is a serious pizzeria. And when the weather gets very warm, the house's Caprese is ideal.

On a tasty crust are fresh, sliced mozzarella, fresh basil, roasted peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and garlic. Only the crust is cooked. The refreshing result is like a satisfying antipasto, plus pizza, too. It goes for $23.50.

Of course, Mamma Lombardi's more traditional pizzas also are recommended. The puffy Sicilian is generous and flavor-packed; the Brooklyn, its equal, a thick-crust production starring  pesto, plum tomatoes, garlic and mozzarella. And the eggplant, ricotta and tomato sauce number heightens the competition.

Mamma Lombardi's, 400 Furrows Rd., Holbrook; 631-737-0774.
