Ron Gelish, whose  Long Island kitchens have included Mac's in Huntington and  the former Sagamore Steakhouse in Syosset, now is the chef at Louie's Oyster Bar & Grille in Port Washington.

The menu at the waterside eatery, in business since 1905 and under new management for eight years, has been retooled and updated by Gelish.

Louie's continues to specialize in seafood, with holdovers such as New England-style clam chowder; a local version of cioppino, the San Francisco seafood stew; linguine with clam sauce; fish and chips; Maine lobsters and a large raw bar. Among the new dishes are prosciutto-wrapped halibut, grilled swordfish with sauteed langoustine, corn and a tomato-bell pepper sauce, and sherry-and-soy marinated Argentine-style skirt steak.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.

Louie's Oyster Bar & Seafood Grille, 395 Main St., Port Washington; 516-883-4242.
