Post-storm: Drink a Hurricane

No power, refrigerator smelling funky. Clean out and use up the fruit and booze in a toast to the departed Irene with a Hurricane. (January 2010) Credit: Michael E. Ach, 2010
I am looking into the refrigerator, which is to say, examining a total loss.
Maybe the cheese will last. The mustard, too. Tabasco. But everything else is headed for the garbage. Wait: there's a lime.
And on this post-storm Monday, that means one thing: time for a Hurricane. If nothing else, this cocktail will raise spirits.
Here's the recipe for an apropos beverage from the "Mr. Boston" cocktail guide, which I can attest easily may be read with a flashlight. Yes, the Hurricane!
1 ounce dark rum
1 ounce light rum
1 tablespoon passion fruit syrup
2 teaspoons lemon juice.
Shake with whatever ice you have left. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Didn't plan ahead. May have to do without the "chilled" part. Using Cointreau and a couple of ounces of the rapidly departing orange juice, too, instead of the passion fruit syrup.
Let there be light. Cheers!
