Qdoba Mexican Eats, the national fast-casual chain, is opening its first freestanding Long Island location on Thursday in East Meadow, and the first 100 customers through the door will receive a free burrito every month for a year. (There was a short-lived Qdoba at Broadway Mall in Hicksville about 10 years ago.)

The setup at Qdoba is similar to Chipotle’s — as you proceed down the service line, an employee assembles the order to your specifications — but the menu is slightly larger: In addition to burritos, burrito bowls and tacos (soft corn, hard corn and flour), there are quesadillas, taco salads, nachos and tortilla soup. Choose your protein (vegetables, grilled chicken, ground beef, smoked brisket, grilled steak or pulled pork) and then choose from among two dozen toppings and sauces. Prices range from $7.39 to $8.99 and include as many toppings as you desire.

The newly constructed 3,000-square-foot East Meadow store, across Hempstead Turnpike from Nassau University Medical Center, is owned by Jeff and John Froccaro, whose company, Q Restaurant Associates LLC, also operates 37 Burger Kings and three Green Turtle sports bars on Long Island. The Froccaros are the sole Qdoba franchisees for Nassau and Suffolk and are currently looking for a second location.

Qdoba was founded in 1995 and now has more than 700 restaurants in 47 states and Canada.

To qualify for the burrito giveaway, customers must be at least 13 years old and be enrolled in Qdoba rewards. Enroll online at qdoba.com/rewards.

In East Meadow, Qdoba’s hours are Sunday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Qdoba is at 2160 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow, 516-743-9890, qdoba.com

Correction: An earlier version of this story did not mention Long Island’s first Qdoba, which was open for a brief time at Broadway Mall in Hicksville.
